10 Ways To Get To Zero Waste In The Kitchen

7. Freeze Fruit

Sometimes fruit ripens too fast, or expectations were too high and it didn’t get eaten as quickly as it should’ve. So, instead of tossing it, freeze it. Frozen fruit is very versatile, and perfect for smoothies, in desserts, or as a topping.

8. Save The Scraps

Don’t assume it’s trash! Vegetable peels, stale bread, citrus peels, meat bones, and small amounts of leftovers still have a lot to offer.

Potato peels often end up as scrap, but there’s a lot of nutrition in that often-snubbed part. Potassium, protein, iron, and niacin are just a few of the reasons to save them. What can you do with them? Try potato peel nachos, super crispy potato peels, or potato peel soup.
